Mission and vision

Initially, the institute was started to conduct Induction Courses of J.Ens from 1986-87 and for Assistant Engineers from the year 1989-90 onwards. The induction courses were of a duration of one month, but in view of difficulty being expressed by the departments for the long duration of the induction courses the same was reduced to two weeks period.

In the year 1992-93 the Refresher Courses for Executive Engineers were also started for the course duration of one week, which was continued up to year 1996-97. In the year 1997-98 the advisory committee took more interest in the activities of the institute

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, P.H.E.D. on 30-5-97 attended by the Secretary P.W.D., Chief Engineer P.W.D., Chief Engineer P.H.E.D. and representative of Secretary & Chief Engineer of Irrigation department, in which a major decision was taken that no course should have duration more than five days. Since July’97, looking to the five days duration the induction courses for A.Ens. & J.Ens. were also changed as refresher course which were being organized along with refresher courses for Executive Engineers.

The Institute started Computer Courses for the first time in 1997 for Executive Engineers and Assistant Engineers and it was very much appreciated and welcomed by the engineers The aim of the Institute is to provide exposure to computers for all Engineers of the three departments. Looking to the popularity of the course and the interest shown by the departments it was decided to allow the J.Ens. of the departments also along with EEs. & AEns. for Computers training course during the year 1998-99.

Since January 2001 institute had started Technical Courses for PWD, PHED & Irrigation Engineers separately on Technical topics. These courses were also welcomed and appreciated by the Engineers of all the three departments. Since very long it was felt that sparing officers for long durations for training is difficult for all the three departments In view of above, institute has also started Short Term Capsule courses on special topics of two days duration. These courses are also appreciated by the trainees of the engineering departments. So institute is now trying to organize short term courses on every possible important and technical topic.

The Chief Engineer, PWD has requested wide letter no: CE/EE/D&T/HCM/D-1125 dated 09.08.2011 to conduct Training Course C-1 for PWD Engineers who have completed 16 years of service and Course C-2 for PWD Engineers who have completed 24 years of service. The topics for these courses were finalized by the PWD department and conveyed to E.S.T.I. to conduct trains accordingly.

The Chief Engineer (PWD) has wide letter no: CE/EE/D&T/Jen. Trg./D-361 dated 07.02.2013 requested the institute to provide training to the newly recruited Junior Engineers, (Civil) for which the tentative topics and faculties were also conveyed by PWD. Accordingly, the training has been included in the Training Calendar for year 2013-14 and onwards.
